Residents living in the Skyline Central 1 block of apartments in Ancoats have grouped together to campaign after they were told they would have to pay upwards of £19,000 each for the removal of flammable cladding.
The bill, delivered by property management firm Rendall and Rittner, came after an independent survey of the building flagged up the cladding panels as dangerous.A reminder of what we’re facing at a cost of up to £27k per apartment... @RendallRittner @LongHarbourLtd @vindenconsults @kitmalthouse @mhclg @CommonsCLG @MENnewsdesk pic.twitter.com/4XmYPcrMyu— Skyline Central 1 (@SkylineCentral1) March 9, 2019
The apartment tower block is owned by Adriatic 3, which has been linked with the £1.3m ground rent fund Long Harbour.
The residents have also taken to Twitter under the handle @SkylineCentral1 and are tweeting with the hashtag #CladdingScandal.
Owners of the Skyline Central 1 apartments hope to achieve the same success as residents of the Valley Court and Cypress Place apartments in the Green Quarter. They were handed a similar bill by property giant Leadlease in 2016.
Finally at the beginning of this month, they received a letter from freeholder Pemberstone confirming that the costs of removing the cladding will not fall to them.
Skyline Central 1 residents are now hoping for the same outcome.Absolutely delighted to share the news we’ve been working so hard to receive for over a year. Can’t thank everyone enough for all your help and support to get us here - We still live in dangerous buildings but the lifting of the financial burden is a significant relief #cladding pic.twitter.com/x5vN2ZcRi5— GQR_MCR_cladding (@GqrMcr) March 1, 2019
