Manchester sees an extraordinary amount of rain over the weekend

An extraordinary level of rain fell on Manchester this weekend.

On Saturday the city centre alone saw 5cm pour down, almost as much as we usually see in a month, though the highest levels were in Littleborough.

While the weather made for some great pictures, it also caused chaos across Greater Manchester.

The M66 had to be closed in both directions at Junction 1 near Ramsbottom and the fire service was called to deal with over 48 floods.
