A planning proposal application has been submitted for the temporary siting and use of shipping containers on a plot in Ancoats. The application would see the containers placed on Pollard Street East and used as 'co-working spaces' for a period of up to five years.

The plans for ‘Pollard Yard’ (put forward by property firm Meanwhile Creative) would see the two-acre plot used as a business hub with added car parking and toilets.

The idea was first floated in October last year shortly after Cardiff-based Meanwhile Creative acquired the lease on the plot, and the plans will now go ahead if the application is approved.

The property firm’s website states that the spaces will launch in early 2019 and that they will 'go big' later in the year by adding another 200 containers, although further applications will have to be submitted in the future if the owners wish to expand and add more containers.

Meanwhile say their goal is to ‘establish one of Manchester's biggest creative co-working communities'.
