This will see Leto make a jump to Marvel from DC, where he previously played The Joker in the 2016 Batman spin-off Suicide Squad.
This isn't the first time the Northern Quarter has welcomed Marvel film crews to its streets.
In 2011, Dale Street's red-brick buildings served as a 1940s New York for the first Captain America instalment.
