Piccadilly Labour have officially launched a petition calling on Manchester City Council not to sell the plot of land which has been embroiled in controversy over the past few months.
Yesterday plans for property firm Salboy (owned by BetFred billionaire Fred Done) to build an 18-storey glass building were approved despite earlier plans for a smaller tower being rejected.
Piccadilly Labour Councillors condemned the decision, calling the building a ‘shard of glass in the heart of the Northern Quarter’.📢 SIGN THE PETITION 📢After Planning yesterday, we have decided to launch a campaign calling on the Council to not sell our land interest on Shudehill. They say that the plans are not in keeping with the surrounding area, which is situated in a conservation area.
