Cyclists held a 'go slow protest' on the streets of Manchester this afternoon.
It comes as Manchester City Council begins a £9.1 million renovation to Great Ancoats Street, one of Manchester's busiest roads.
The plans have been labelled a 'swindle' by cyclists who say they only take into accounts the needs of motor vehicle drivers and disregard the safety of cyclists and pedestrians.

Taking to Facebook, Nick Hubble - who co-organised the event - said: "The scheme will take out the existing cycle lanes without replacing them. Instead, we are being promised an alternative winding, narrow cycle route through the Northern Quarter rather than safe, protected and direct bike lanes on this key corridor."

The protest organisers are now calling for people to sign a petition demanding the plans be revised.
